The Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers is an organization that was formed to benefit LOCAL Ohio Valley causes in time of need. The money raised through the OVCS organization will be used to help local organizations, groups and causes that may need the money to put food on the table, rebuild a home after a fire or flood, purchase diapers for infants, medicine for children or shelter for a family in need.

“Our first fundraising event was created to honor Jeffrey Showalter—the son of one of our OVCS board members, Ted Showalter,” explained board member and golf committee co-chairman Dave Diosi. “Jeffrey was tragically killed in an automobile accident on September 6th, 2004. Our board agreed that with the message and magnitude of this premier event that it was only appropriate to memorialize such a wonderful young man and affiliate Jeffery with this worthy cause,” Diosi added. “We ask that all sponsors and participants step up and help us to raise money for the OVCS and those who cannot attend please send a tax deductible donation directly to the Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers at P. O. Box 221, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950,” he concluded.

“Our committee decided last year that this would be our 10th and final event,” Showalter added. “We have been very blessed to have the support from major sponsors, tee and green sponsors, countless volunteers and especially the celebrities who have stood by us for an entire decade. This is a perfect time to end this great run and go out on a high note,” Showalter explained. “To raise over $250,000.00 over a nine-year period in the Ohio Valley is a remarkable feat and we are gracious for everyone who contributed to that number. Our goal this year is to raise over $50,000.00 and reach the $300,000.00 goal,” he continued. “I must stress that every single penny of the monies we raise is given away to our LOCAL charities in need,” Showalter said.

Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers President Jim Carnes said: “We are looking to provide the necessary help for our own friends in neighbors located right here in the Ohio Valley. Our group is confident that the donations and participation will be seen by local businesses and individuals who support this cause.”

Carnes also added that the OVCS Board of Directors are actively pursuing another means of raising money to replace this outing in the future.
